Val Concei is a side valley of the more famous Val di Ledro. To reach the starting point at Lenzumo, you’ll pass through the picturesque Ledro Lake and the charming village of Tenno. During the winter months, Canale di Tenno transforms into a magical Christmas wonderland, with its traditional markets and festive atmosphere. Ample parking is available in Lenzumo next to a field which is a popular landing spot for paragliders.

The hike (named Sentiero Naturalistico del Fondovalle) from Lenzumo to Rifugio al Faggio is a leisurely 45-minute walk, making it ideal for families with young children. The flat trail follows the serene Assat Creek, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The path is also perfect for little ones to practice their bike-riding skills or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll.

A short walk will lead you to a fenced-in area where you can observe a friendly family of deer. These gentle creatures often approach visitors, offering a unique and heartwarming experience. Our little one Edo loved pretending to be Santa’s reindeer and imagining the nearby elven village. Along the way, you’ll also find a refreshing fountain to quench your thirst.

The Fata Gavardina Forest

The highlight of any visit to Val Concei is the enchanting Fata Gavardina Forest at the Rifugio al Faggio. This fairy-tale park features wooden sculptures of animals, dwarves, and mythical creatures, as well as a slackline for balance practice and a stream to explore. In the summer months, the village comes alive with activities, including a Kneipp path for a refreshing barefoot experience and the open Rifugio al Faggio.
